So, Chris and I went to go get the 3D ultrasound of little Madelynne today. We were so excited to see our little 30 week old fetus!
When the ultrasound tech started off she showed us that Mady's head was facing down and that her little face was squished in my uterus. She had made a comment on how it's best to get 3D ultrasounds when the baby is about 28 weeks old because they have more room to move around (my doctor is the one that suggested we wait until 30 weeks). She said that she was going to take some measurements of the baby so that we can see how big she's getting. She took measurements of her head, then of her belly, and then of her femur. What did those measurements tell us?! Well, there's a very good chance that our little Madelynne is actually 34 weeks along - THAT CUTS AN ENTIRE MONTH OFF OF HER ARRIVAL TIME! The machine placed her EDD at 02/28/2010 by her femur measurement, at 03/03/2010 by her head measurement, and at 3/11/2010 by her belly measurement. Her head and femur are measuring in the 98th percentile and her weight is estimated at 5lbs 1oz currently which puts her in the 90th percentile.
Now, the ultrasound tech cannot change our due date. She can only give the information to our doctor to do so. So, I'm not sure as of now when this little gem will be arriving, but I sure do hope it's before she reaches 10+ lbs!!! Our next doctor appointment is Thursday, so hopefully we'll find out more information then!
Now for the cute photos! Keep in mind...she's about 6 weeks bigger than she should be getting this done, so she's working with really tight quarters here! (Meaning she's super duper squished!!)
Here's a cute one of her little face...

Here's one of her nose and mouth (her mouth is open)...

Her umbilical cord hung out in her face the entire time...

Look at that chunky cheek!...

Another one of her nose and mouth. Her little lips are so cute!...

She smiled a little bit!...

A more serious look...

SUPER squished!...

So, keep posted as I will be updating everyone as soon as I find out when the actual estimated due date is!

She's gonna be a big one! But before you start preparing for a HUGE baby, remember that ultrasounds can be as much as a pound off. :)
And, uh...didn't your doctor ask when your last period was to determine your due date? But then again, cycle length can change due dates too, but doctors go off a regular 28 day cycle. (I calculated mine, and it should have been June 16, no the 12th. Had that been my due date, Evan would have only been a day late, not 6.)
Either way...she's going to be a cutie!!
fun that you got to do a 3D ultra sound. She looks cute and squishy.
Hopefully, she will come out when she is ready...who cares what the real date is supposed to be.
let us know what your doc says! what a funny situation!
