Pumpkins, Gender Prediciton Test, and Weeks 18 & 19

This entry is going to be a little random, but if you know me, that's normal.
First off, I'd like to share the awesome pumpkins that Chris and I carved for Halloween. We started off Tuesday night carving some characters from The Office.

This is Chris's pumpkin, Mr. Andy Bernard:

This is my pumpkin, Mr. Kevin Malone:

Here are our pumpkins side by side.
(As you can tell, I cared more about the overall picture as my edges are nicer.)

Then, on Wendesday night, I carved a pumpkin to set at the front desk at work...this one was HARD!

I think that our pumpkins turned out really well for being first-time carvers. I don't believe I've carved a pumpkin since middle school.

Now, moving on, earlier this month Chris came home with a present for me. He said that he was talking with a friend at work (who is also pregnant) and she told him about this test that I could take to tell me the gender of the baby. She said that she was watching some doctor show on tv (Chris can't remember which one) and they were talking about this test and how accurate it is. Supposedly, it hasn't been proven wrong. So, of course, he got excited and bought it for me.

This is what the test looks like.

So, per the directions, I had to wait until the next morning to take the test. So, I waited, anticipating the restults to get this...
I'm pretty sure I got "Boy" results. What you do is pee into this little cup, then you put the pee in this other cup and swirl the cup around for 20-30 seconds. If the pee changes colors to brown, it's a boy. If the pee stays yellow in color, it's a girl. It turned a little brown...so I'm assuming the results were "Boy".

These results, of course, put my mind into a little spin. I was so excited when I had gotten pregnant of the chance of having a boy. Then, I went to a doctor's appointment and she told me that she had a feeling that I'm having a girl. So, then I had to get excited about the chance of having a girl - I picked out a name and everything! So next, I pee in a cup, and it's back to the chance of having a boy. Up, down, up, down, up, down...I'm on a roller coaster ride! Haha!

Since the test, I'm just happy that I'm having a little baby...I don't care about the gender at this point, I just want it to be healthy. Either boy, or girl, it's going to be one spoiled little brat (thanks to his/her grandparents).

Now, onto the progression in fruit and veggies:

This week, I'm at Week 18:
Sweet Potato
Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

Next week, Week 19:
Mango
Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Only two weeks until I have my first ultrasound and I get to see the little person! I can't wait!

Well, the gender predictor might be right. Refer to the Chines baby prediction calendar; it was right for me!

Can't wait to hear what you're actually having!
