Because I'm having a baby in late March/early April, I have been doing a lot of thinking about what I'm going to do with my career with Life Time Fitness.
In February, I will have been working for the company for 7 years...that's a long time! The job I currently hold I absolutely LOVE! I love the team that I work with, I love my employees, and I love the members! However, the hours aren't the best for a new mom. Being the Front Desk Department Head, I need to be in the club during "peak hours" which for our club are in the evening between 4:00pm - 7:30pm. I get to work between 10:00am - 11:00am each day (which is nice because I miss traffic going through town) and I leave work between 7:00pm - 8:00pm in the evening thus I'm getting home around 8/8:30pm. I'm also required to work one weekend day each week.
I'm not too sure that schedule would work out perfectly with a baby...don't babies go to bed around that time...wouldn't I be missing out too much?!
So, a month ago, I sat down with the Vice President of Sales with our company (who I've known for almost 7 years now), Shane, and I guess you can say "picked his brain" a little. I had all these ideas running through my brain, but needed someone to talk to them about. In talking with him, I realized that I definitely need to be home earlier in the evening and I also need to be able to be free from stress of the job on the weekends.
Shane got me connected with a lady at the corporate office named Tanya. She runs the Web Sales Team for the company - she too is expecting a baby. We discussed my history with the company, her history with the company, and what I'm looking for in my career. It turned out that she needed to find a replacement pretty quickly for her position, not the management part, but the Web Sales part. I've done sales with Life Time Fitness before, I know almost everything to know there is to know about the club...I can totally do this job! So, after our 35 minute phone conversation she said that she would get back to me regarding the position.
I then waited for almost 2 weeks for an answer on whether or not they were going to put their faith in me for this job. I got a call from Tanya last Wednesday stating that they were in fact interested in bringing me on as a Web Sales Specialist!!
Now, what does this mean to everyone out there that doesn't really know Life Time Fitness?
Beginning November 30th, I will no longer be working in a club - I will be working for the corporate office. I know what you're thinking "Life Time Fitness is based out of Minnesota! Does that mean that you're moving?" And the answer to that question is "No". This is an "at home" position, meaning I will work from home. How perfect is that!!!! Another thing that is absolutely cool is that since I will be working for "corporate" I will work corporate hours...8:00am - 5:30pm Monday through Friday with 4 hours of checking in on the weekend.
I fly to Minnesota on November 30th and will be up there for a week training with Tanya before she leaves for maternity leave. Once I get home, I will be officing out of my home so that I can get the job down prior to having little Madelynne.
Once little Madelynne is born, I will take some time off, of course, before hiring a nanny come over while I'm working from my wonderful house, so close to my baby girl.
I couldn't be more excited about this opportunity!

Tiffany, that's wonderful! (SO JEALOUS!) What a perfect solution, though. You'll be home in case baby needs you, but the nanny will be there to let you work!
How nice for you! Working from home is great but it is hard too. It is funny how some people think it's so easy, like you are on vacation.
No way! Good thing you will have a nanny. I have to work once Matthew is asleep because I cannot get anything done when he is awake.
Congrats!
So...anyone know a good nanny?! :) On the west side of town, of course.
depending on how much the pay is... I know a GREAT nanny... MANny.
His name rhymes with Egg Pooter.
Greg...you're so funnny! My mom watches Evan; we're on the west side. :)
Oh, by the way, I just noticed your "hello" name tag. How are you already 21 weeks? That went by fast. You're on the down hill slide now!
Greg, I think the drive might be too much! Haha! I'm going to start calling you Egg.
Mattie, yep! 21 weeks! I'm more than 1/2 way there!
